First Day of Blogging

Hello, I just set this blog up amidst everything else we have going on. We are busy little Porfirios these days and I wanted to share with you all we are up to. We just came back from a much needed vacation in Panama City Beach a few weeks ago. It was so wonderful for us to go on vacation together and spend the time with our precious baby William. No work, no worries, just us! Last weekend, we went to Toronto to see my friend Kelly get married. It was an Indian wedding and it was beautiful! My mom picked us up from the airport in Buffalo and spent the weekend with us, so it was nice that William got to know her a little better. We also had the chance to visit with some of my Canadian cousins and meet my cousin Michael's new 5 month old baby, Jack. This weekend, we are off to Austin , TX for a Porfirio family reunion. As the first of the new generation to carry on the Porfirio name I'm sure that William will get a lot of attention. Next weekend we are staying here (Whew - maybe I can sleep!) And then we're off to Phoenix, Houston, and Auburn over the next month and a half! Yes we're nuts!

Now on to William. He is 8 1/2 months old and is just as wonderful as ever! He's really trying hard to crawl, but gets frustrated sometimes. But we think he'll do it real soon. He's mastered rolling over and even feeds himself little finger foods... but no teeth yet. He can pull up to standing with a little assistance and has learned to lift his foot and take little steps (holding on to us of course.) He's getting so big! We take him to the doctor in a few weeks, but I'm excited to see how much he's grown since his 6 month checkup (17 lbs 27 in. long.) He said "Baba" on 5/30/08 while he was eating dinner. To most people that doesn't mean much, but it just so happens that it means "Grandma" in Ukrainian so my mom was very excited. Two days later on Sunday, William said "Dada." AJ missed it the first time, but he said it later that day in the car. AJ's face lit up almost as much as when I first told him he was going to be a father. It was a beautiful moment! He still hasn't said Mama yet, but that's okay. I've convinced myself that he's just waiting to say it until he understands what he's saying - not just making sounds ;-) (hee hee) Ok, well that catches us up for now. I'll try to write as often as possible. And I will post pictures soon from all our recent trips. Now it's off to Austin!
